The Young Sailors Of Oman Achieve The Best Results In Africa And Asia

The sailors of Oman who are young and skilled showed their prowess of racing in water at two international championship regattas in world-class. With their extraordinary sailing skill, they achieved the result which was for the first time. The secured the most excellent result at both the event.

The competition was intense and there were back-to-back events, but the four sailors of Oman who belongs to the Sail youth team not only showed their amazing performance but also won the race. It championship was 2018 Optimist Asian and Oceanic and it took place Myanmar in November. The event happened just after the Optimist African Championship (OAC) in which Oman sailors were also the participants and won the race. In an event that happened very recently in Maputo Bay, Mozambique, the strength of the team became apparent when the four sailors competed and finished in the top three positions. Total 66 sailors participated in the event. One of the sailors Mohammed Al Qasmi from Oman secured the place on the podium of the championship.

He finished third overall by winning one race and securing a top third position in the other two races. Nibras Al Awaisi finished the regatta at the 11th position, Saleem Al Alawi secured the 17th position while Jihad Al Hasani ended at the 22nd position. Before this, the same team demonstrated their sailing skill in Myanmar as well. They competed against 125 sailors hailing from 15 different nations. This championship held at the Ngwe Saung Yacht Club and it was the regional event major.

They produced the best ever results by qualifying for the race in the top Gold Fleet. Also, the entire team beat the Japan team in another event named Team Racing event after that they headed for the world team race champions taking place in Thailand.
